These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of the game Melbees: The Secret of
Bees (“the game”), distributed on Google Play. They work alongside our
Privacy Policy, which explains what data the game handles and how
you can delete it.
1. Who we are
The game is provided by Melbee Games, Brazil (“we”, “us”). For any question or
request, write to melbees.games@gmail.com.
2. Accepting these Terms
By using the game you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the game. Purchases
are made through Google Play, and Google Play's terms also apply to them.
3. The game is free
Every mode is free for everyone: Run, Walk and Daily Challenge. Run and Walk
have no limit on matches. The Daily Challenge is one attempt a day per difficulty and
language, for everyone.
You need to buy nothing and create no account to play. Playing is offline,
and your progress is kept on your device only.
Without paying you get the free set of categories, all the power cards, the same rewards as
any player, the same continue offer in each mode, and the local leaderboard with your own
times.
4. The Google account, which is optional
An account is not required to play or to buy. It is for the online
leaderboard (section 9) and for restoring your subscription on
another device (section 5).
The account is Google only: there is no e-mail-and-password sign-up. You sign
in under Settings → Account → Sign in with Google, or when the online
leaderboard asks. The game never asks you to sign in on launch.
Deleting the account: under Settings → Account → Delete my
account, right away. Without the game installed, through the
Delete your account page, and we act within
30 days. This deletes the account, your display name and your runs on the
online leaderboard.
Deleting the account does not cancel or refund the subscription and erases
nothing on your device. Deleting the device data (Delete my data) does not
delete the account. They are different actions.
5. Premium, the subscription
Premium is an optional monthly subscription, sold through
Google Play, that renews automatically. It does not buy access to any mode:
everything section 3 lists stays free. While the subscription is active, it
gives four benefits:
Online leaderboard: the global leaderboard of each category and the Daily
Challenge one (section 9).
Premium categories: the categories marked Premium are open.
All skins and themes: they are visual and change nothing in play.
Free continues: one free 5-Petal continue per Run and one per Daily
Challenge, and unlimited continues in Walk.
Premium does not improve your time. In the ranked modes (Run and Daily
Challenge), each Petal received in a continue adds the same time to your final time, whether it
comes from an ad, a purchase or Premium. The cards and the rewards are the same for subscribers
and non-subscribers.
7-day free trial. The price, the period and the trial are shown on the Premium
screen as Google Play reports them, before you subscribe. When the trial ends, the
subscription starts being charged and renews by itself every month, until you cancel. Google
Play decides whether an account can use the trial: an account that has used a trial before
may not get another.
Subscribing needs no account. To recover the subscription, use
Restore purchases, on the Premium screen or under Settings → Account. On
another device, the game asks for the Google account.
Cancelling: whenever you like, in your Google Play account's subscriptions.
Under Settings → Account, Manage subscription opens that page. The game never
cancels the subscription for you, and deleting your Melbees account does not cancel it.
When the subscription stops being active:
the Premium categories, skins and themes lock again, and you go back to the
free set. An equipped skin stops showing, but its record is not erased;
the online leaderboard no longer applies to you: you go back to your local times. Times you
already sent are not deleted because of it, but no new time is accepted on the online
leaderboard;
you keep everything on the device and everything you have already earned,
such as best times, feats, discovered secrets and settings.
6. Petals and the continue
When the match's Petals run out, the game stops the clock and offers to continue. The options
depend on the mode:
Watch a rewarded ad: it gives 1 Petal (section 8).
Buy a pack of 2 or 5 Petals, in Run and in the Daily Challenge. In Walk there
is no Petal purchase, for anybody.
Premium's free continue, if you subscribe (section
5).
Give up, in one tap, always available.
Each Petal received adds time to what is left of the phase and, in the ranked modes (Run and
Daily Challenge), adds the same time to your final time, wherever it came from.
Bought Petals:
are sold only at that moment, when yours run out. The game has no store;
carry Google Play's price, shown beside the Buy button. Without the price, the button does not
appear;
go into the match at once and are spent in it. They are not kept for another
match, have no cash value, cannot be exchanged for money, and cannot be passed to another
person, another account or another device;
are not a draw: there is no loot box. You know exactly what you are buying,
and nothing bought turns into a draw.
If a purchase is waiting for a guardian's approval, the game says it is pending. If the approval
arrives while the continue offer is still open, the Petals go into the match. A purchase that is
not used on an open continue offer (for example, an approval that arrives after you gave up, a
payment that clears only after the match has ended, or the game closing between the charge and
the delivery) is not delivered to another match on its own, and Google Play refunds it
automatically 3 days after the charge. Before that, if you buy the same pack on a continue offer,
the game delivers that already-paid purchase, with no second charge.
7. Purchases: who charges, cancelling and refunds
Google Play does the charging, through its own billing system and under its
own terms. We never see or receive your payment details. What reaches us is
in the Privacy Policy.
Buying requires no account and asks no age (section 10).
Refunds are requested from Google Play and decided by it, under its policies
and the consumer-protection law of your country.
Right of withdrawal. In Brazil, you have the right of withdrawal of the
Consumer Defense Code (CDC), under the terms of the law. In the European Union and the United
Kingdom, you have 14 days to withdraw from a digital purchase, unless you expressly agreed to
immediate performance and acknowledged losing that right, which Google Play's own purchase
screen presents; the request goes to Google Play, which is the seller.
8. Rewarded ads
The game shows rewarded ads only, served by Google AdMob. There is no banner
and no ad between screens.
No ad ever appears by itself. One is shown only when you tap to watch an ad on
the continue offer (section 6), and it gives 1 Petal. If you never tap,
you will never see an ad. The ad is always labelled as an ad.
An ad is not always available. When none is, the game does not show that option. In Walk,
with no ad and no Premium, the only option is to give up.
The first time an ad is about to be shown, the game asks your age once, with
a Skip button of the same weight. Skipping blocks nothing. What the answer is
for, and what we keep of it, is in sections 5 and
6 of the Privacy Policy.
9. The online leaderboard and fair play
The local leaderboard is free for everyone: your 10 best times on each board
are kept on the device.
The online leaderboard is a Premium benefit: the global leaderboard of each
category and the Daily Challenge one. To send times and see your position, you sign in with
the Google account.
On the online leaderboard you appear under a name the game generates, which
you do not choose, and there is no text field. The public sees only the fifty best marks of
each board: rank, generated name and time.
The online leaderboard needs the internet and our servers. When they do not answer, the local
leaderboard keeps working.
Fair play. Every run sent is re-run on our server, move by move, to confirm the
time is real. You may not alter the game, the app or the data it sends, use software to play for
you or to make up a run, or exploit bugs in the game to get a time. We may remove results
that break these rules.
10. Children, teenagers and parental control
Melbees is a general-audience, family-friendly game, and we know that children and teenagers
play it. The version everyone gets is already the version a minor is allowed to have: there is no
chat, no messaging between players, no nickname you choose on the leaderboard, no paid random
reward, and no advertising profile built out of what you play.
Age rating in Brazil: not recommended for under 14, for the reason
"In-game purchases", which are Petals and Premium (section 7). The
game's content itself is suitable for all ages, and outside Brazil the rating is for all ages.
The rating is also shown on the game's Google Play page.
There is no age screen at the door, and no age question to buy. Whoever has a
payment method on the Google Play account can buy. The game's only age question comes before
the first ad (section 8).
Players under 18 use the game with the knowledge of their parents or
guardians, who control purchases through Google Play: purchase
approval can require authorisation before any purchase, and Google
Family Link can also set time limits. A purchase waiting for approval shows
in the game as pending (section 6).
Under Settings, the For parents and guardians page shows the play time on this
device and where those controls are. It asks for no age and sits behind no purchase.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has sent us personal information, write to
melbees.games@gmail.com and we will delete
it.
11. What you send us
The game has no chat and no messaging between players, and the leaderboard has no text field.
Inside the game, the only text of yours that reaches us is what you write on the
Send feedback screen (Settings → Account) and in the per-word report on the
results screen.
Nothing is sent until you tap “Send”.
They exist so you can tell us about a problem, a wrong word, an idea or a compliment, and we
use what you write to deal with what the message describes.
By sending it, you let us use what you wrote to improve the game, without payment. We never
publish what you sent with your name.
Do not write your name, e-mail, phone number, address or any other personal
information there, yours or a child's.
What is sent, how long we keep it (24 months at most) and how to ask for it to be deleted are
in the Privacy Policy.
12. Your licence to use the game
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the game for
your own entertainment. You agree not to: copy, sell, sublicense or redistribute the game;
reverse-engineer or tamper with it; cheat, exploit bugs, or use unauthorized software; or use the
game unlawfully.
13. Intellectual property
The game and its content (characters, art, audio, text, and code) are owned by us or our
licensors and are protected by law. These Terms grant you no rights in them beyond the licence in
section 12.
14. Availability and changes to the game
We may update the game and change rules, content and features, and we may suspend or end the
game or a feature of it.
If a Premium benefit or the game itself ends, we will give notice in advance,
the subscription will stop renewing, and refunds follow Google Play's rules and the law.
The Premium screen lists a benefit only once the version of the game you have already delivers
it. Nothing is promised for the future.
The online leaderboard, purchases and ads depend on the internet and on third-party services,
such as Google's, and may be down for a while. Playing keeps working offline.
If a change does not suit you, you can cancel the subscription at any time in Google Play
(section 5), and your consumer rights still apply
(section 18).
15. Limitation of liability
We work to keep the game running well, but we do not promise that it will always be available or
free of errors. Your progress is kept on your device only, and we keep no copy of it on any
server: if it is lost, for instance by uninstalling the game or using Delete my
data, we have no way to give it back. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable
for indirect losses caused by using the game. Nothing in this section limits rights that the
consumer-protection law of your country gives you and that cannot be set aside.
16. How to stop using the game
You can stop using the game whenever you like. Delete my data (Settings) erases
what is on the device. Delete my account (Settings → Account), or the
Delete your account page, deletes the account. The
subscription is cancelled in Google Play (section 5).
17. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms; the “Last updated” date will change and, for material changes, we will
say so inside the game.
18. Governing law and venue
These Terms are governed by the laws of Brazil. In consumer relationships Brazil's Consumer
Defense Code (CDC) applies, and you may bring a claim in the courts of the place where you live. If you live in
another country, you keep the mandatory protections of your own country's law. Nothing in these
Terms takes away a right that consumer-protection law gives you and that cannot be set aside by
contract.
